project archives
And Duchamp said, let Readymade build a handy online archive, and it was so. Every relic in ReadyMade’s past, from literal lawn furniture (Sprout a Couch, Issue 6) to killer closet conversions (Closet Case, Issue 25), is now available online – sprung from the vault, dusted off, and uploaded here to fulfill your DIY desires. (And it is good.)
HOW IT WORKS
Skill Levels:
- Monkey (true beginner)
- Cro-Magnon
- Drudge
- Craftsman (deft with power tools)
Time Spent:
- 5 minute mark is less than one hour
- 15 minute mark is 1 to 3 hours
- 30 minute mark is 3-6 hours
- 45 minute mark is one day
- full clock is 1-3 days.
Each project includes a handy reference card displaying the required time, cost, skill level, ingredients, and tools. Completion times vary depending on how many minutes have elapsed on the stopwatch. At the 5-minute mark, you’ll spend less than an hour; at the 55-minute mark, you're skipping Heroes. Our evolutionary skill chart is defined as follows: Monkey (has opposable thumbs), Cro-Magnon (has tools and fire but may be clumsy with both), Drudge (has tools and basic know-how), Craftsman (knows that a confirmat screw isn’t as kinky as it sounds).
All do-it-yourself activities involve risk. Although the editors have made every effort to ensure accuracy, the reader remains responsible for the selection and use of tools and methods. Obey local laws, follow manufacturers’ instructions, and observe safety precautions. Be careful out there.
