On a Roll
Three simple ideas for reusing wrapping-paper tubes
1. RACK OF AGES
Organize your scarves or ties by cutting a single wrapping-paper roll into six equally sized sections, then gluing them together in a two-by-three grid. To install, cut off the hook of a wire hanger and bend the cut edges inward, poking them into the top tubes. Hang the rack in a closet or on a doorknob, and festoon with finery.
2.TIDY TIDINGS
Rather than hiding holiday cards in a drawer, proudly display your stash. Cut a few slits down the length of a wrapping-paper tube and place it on a mantle or shelf, then prop your cards in the slits so they stand upright. To keep the tube from rolling, weigh it down with small rocks or magnets.
3. GOLDEN ARCHES
If Christmas wreaths conjure memories of mothballs and plastic-covered furniture, try this crafty alternative. Simply cut a few tubes of various widths, spray-paint the outsides and insides in different colors for more punch, and hot-glue them together in a circular arrangement. Let dry, and dangle on the door.
