I was totally inspired by my previous post about the Pin Pals, and it got me trolling around for more needlepoint or cross-stitch emblazoned wearables.
Why? Because I can really feel a cross-stitch/needlepoint/bargello trend creeping back…especially when those needlearts are brought up to date, design-wise, for our modern times. I love the idea of using needlepoint and cross-stitch in jewelry; the results are very unexpected and fun.
Want examples? Well in addition to those pieces pictured above, I’m also kinda thinking of the super-fun, very mod and colorful needlepoint accessories put out by interior maximalist Jonathan Alder, or the deliciously overblown, oversized needlepoint-emblazoned retro-look handbags British designer Orla Kiely rolled out back in 2008 (you can peek at said bags in this old post on Oh Joy!). It’s been popping up here and there in the design/fashion world in recent years, but hasn’t blown back into fashion big-time…yet. But it’s got such amazing potential for revival, methinks!

[...] is neo-needlepoint and cross-stitch the next big thing? [...]
LOVE that necklace!
I started cross stitching last year after finding an awesome website with Super Mario Bros patterns on it. I have scowered the internet for some cool updated patterns but can’t really find any. If anyone has some cool leads for some free mod patterns let us know!
I love these! I want to make my own, I’ve been re-discovering my love of cross stitch recently and even had my blog header designed in cross stitch a few weeks ago
WOW! I just found out about this post! Where was I?
Thanks so much for having my necklace on here!!
